New York in Crisis

NYiC
New York City experienced a crisis throughout the years following World War II. The city and its neighborhoods were altered on every level. The cold and distant metrics of unemployment, population, crime, and bond ratings reflected a city in decline, while the warm reality of the street betrayed a city in the throws of fear, joy, and confusion. The standard NYiChistory of the decades of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and early-1990s will come to this section in time, but before and as it does, you have to participate.

This is your opportunity to share your story. Were you a bureaucrat? Were you an artist? Were you a pretzel vendor? Were you mugged? Did you make a fortune? As memories fade and stories are jumbled, it is critical that these are recorded and shared by as many as possible. Whether it's minute-by-minute snapshots or decade-long narratives, share it all. Send stories, photos, films, and audio to nyic (at) allwaysny (dot) com, and they will be posted on NYiC's stories page.
